Friday night I and a group of girlfriends escaped our mommy and wife roles to get out for a fun Girl’s Night Out. We headed out to the new Sip & Paint studio that just recently opened up in downtown Glens Falls located next door to Siam Thai Sushi, one of my favorite restaurants. If you have never been to a paint and sip studio you should check it out. The premise behind it is that everyone paints the same picture as instructed by the teacher while enjoying drinks of your choice. I had never been before but had heard so many great things about it and being a closet artist I knew I would enjoy it. The class starts at 7 but doors open 30 minutes ahead so you can get a seat, and a drink, and be ready to get your art on time.
The painting for the evening was an evening cityscape loosely based off of Vincent Van Gogh’s Cafe Terrace at Night. Here is a picture of the painting done by our artist instructor, Greg:
Below is a series of photos of my painting in different stages throughout the night:
We all had a really good time and have already discussed going back for more fun.
After we were done getting our art on we headed next door for a quick bite to eat. I already had dinner earlier in the evening but couldn’t pass up a chance for some fresh sushi so I got the rainbow roll which is one of my favorites there.
If you plan to go, note that the address on the website for Sip & Canvas says Bay Street but the store front is actually on Maple Street, the building is at the corner of Bay and Maple. There is free parking on the street as well as behind the building in a lot. If you are going in the evening plan on dinner before at Siam Thai Sushi, their food is excellent. If you like sushi I highly recommend the Rainbow Roll and if you prefer your food cooked, the Pad Thai is excellent as well. If Thai is not your food of choice there are many other great options within walking distance including our other favorites, Raul’s and 132 Glen Bistro.
