I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know we certainly did! It was one of those weekends that just screamed summer from start to finish. It was filled with good friends, good food and great times spent with family.
I’m going to let the photos do most of the talking but will highlight a couple of the activities from the weekend.
Friday night was Girl’s Night Out/Boy’s Night In. You can read all about it here. It was a blast!
Saturday morning we did some errands to get the house and ourselves ready for some very special guests, my sister-in-law and her family who are here visiting from Nebraska for a couple of days. This was the first time they got to meet Owen and it was a lot of fun. We went to Haviland’s Cove for some beach time and then BBQ’d at the house in the evening.
Jill (my SIL) and Jason (her husband) have two boys, Cameron (who just turned 8) and Oliver (who turned 6 in May). The boys played outside while the grownups chatted and grilled up some delicious food. We had steak, chicken, fresh locally grown corn on the cob and homemade coleslaw (my first attempt at making it and it came out pretty good!).
Sunday morning we were up and at it again for a rafting trip down the Sacandaga River in Hadley, NY. We had told our nephews that when they came to visit this summer we would plan something fun to do to celebrate their birthdays (one was in May, the other 2 days before they got to NY). So we brought them whitewater rafting on the Sacandaga River with Beaver Brook Outfitters. Harrison and I have kayaked that section of river many times and knew the boys, who are 6 and 8, would find it fun, but not too scary. So Owen went with Nana and Grandpa while we took the boys and Jill and Jason down the river. The boys had a blast and it was fun to see them having such a good time on and in the water.
Once off the river we headed up north to the in-laws for more water play in Mill Creek and another BBQ with some family friends.
Jill bought the boys all matching outfits so we could get some cute pictures of them together while they were here. They all looked so adorable, here are a few of the group shots.
While we didn’t get much accomplished this past weekend in terms of chores around the house it was really nice to get to enjoy the beautiful summer weather outdoors with family. We will miss Jill, Jason and the boys and hope to see them all soon!
